The Master of Communication Design program at RMIT University develops expertise in communication design and graphic design, with emphases upon industry-partnered projects, typography, design strategy and service design.

In February 2015, RMIT Master of Communication Design was pleased to host Typography Summer School. Founded in London in 2010 by Fraser Muggeridge, Typography Summer School has run previously in London and New York to high acclaim. This was a unique opportunity for current students, recent graduates and local designers to undertake intensive study in advanced typography with Muggeridge, an internationally renowned designer, typographer and educator. Muggeridge was joined in Melbourne by a cast of leading designers, who delivered guest lectures and tutorials.
Organised by Fraser Muggeridge and Brad Haylock.

Visiting practitioners: Jenny Grigg, Dominic Hofstede, Žiga Testen & Paul Tisdell.

Dr Noel Waite is the Program Manager of the Masters of Communication Design. His research interests are Design History and Exhibition Design, and he has worked with local government, museums and galleries, and third sector organisations to develop and implement strategic plans, utilising scenario building and participatory design methods to ensure sustaining human-centred outcomes. He was a member of the Steering Committee which successfully achieved UNESCO Creative City status for Dunedin, New Zealand in 2014, and can be seen above facilitating a participatory design workshop at the Creative Cities Southern Hui in Dunedin in 2017.
