Cultural Convergence in Australian Chinese Food through Communication Design

Abstract

This study explores how communication design can present the integration and dislocation of Melbourne's Chinese food culture in a cross-cultural context. The research analyzes the changes in visual forms such as menus, signs, naming methods and food images in cross-cultural communication through field investigations, visual archive organization and experimental publication design. This project aims to reveal the cultural negotiation mechanisms behind these visual transformations, consider how design can break through the fixed concept of "authenticity", and provide new understanding paths for identity construction and visual communication in a multicultural context.
